'Uswidi' Takes Music Streaming Stores By The Storm

Patience, smart work, and consistency if finally paying off for Blendor as Blendor unleashes his second album titled 'Uswidi'. After 5 years since the release of his debut album titled 'Umacashelana' in 2017, Blendor commenced releasing new music consistently and for free on Soundcloud and Whatsapp every month in 2021. "I focused on releasing singles every month because it gave me the freedom to experiment, express my versatility as an artist/producer, and tap into different genres without getting boxed into a certain genre. It was also a test of consistency for me personally and a mechanism of growing my audience," says Blendor. 'Uswidi' is a culmination of Blendor's successful daring experiment, and the numbers are a testament to that. On its first day of release, 'Uswidi' got +1000 streams on Spotify and this was a sign that the album is getting attention because there's a song for everyone. The album can be defined as a  pop album. It also has 3 tracks of amapiano, a house music genre that originated in South Africa in 2012. Synths, airy pads, and broad percussive basslines characterize this blend of deep house, jazz, and lounge music.

The most-streamed song is titled 'Stolen'. It is reminiscent of the 80s pop sound, characterized by synths and upbeat tempo. This is one out of two songs that are not sung in his native IsiZulu language. Blendor is getting most of his streams from the USA, followed closely by South Africa. The future is looking bright for this talented artist as he embarks on his journey of reaching up to 50k streams in the next 5 months. At the time of writing this article 'Uswidi' was at 12k streams and 6 916 monthly listeners. Blendor's music production, distribution, and promotion are taken care of by Awe Music Production. Blendor mean business on his latest single.

Ipani, released on 20 January 2021 by Blendor, has sparked a lot of interest from music fans. The song currently has over 5000 Soundcloud stream. This slow jam Afro-Pop track has ethereal vocals and very catchy melodies only Blendor can create. It has reached over 45 000 people on Facebook and has 1900 engagements up to date. These numbers show that people are slowly catching up with Blendor's music. The song's unusual theme is what sets it apart from the songs in his genre. The songs tell a story about the guy who is getting rejected constantly by a girl he's been wooing for four years. The interesting part is the chorus where he declares that he is going to KwaMhlabuyalingana to get help. Umhlabuyalingana is a place located in the northern part of South Africa, that is known for its very potent and effective muti. There is no mention of witchcraft in the song but the listener can easily make a connection.

Blendor's is bent on creating a strong fan base by releasing a new single on each month for the whole year of 2021. On the 20th of every month a single will be released. His next single is a breakup song titled Eyami coming up on 20 February. This single feature a very groovy bassline by Mzukulu of Mzukulu-tainment (he plays bass guitar on Duncan's  Tsiki Tsiki) and Blue Note Cele on violin. On 20 March Blendor will release another single titled Ambulance.
